Eligibility to appear in NEET-UG

     General Eligibility:

  • Number of Attempts: Candidates may attempt the exam only 3 times. NEET 2017 is counted as 1 Attempt for all the candidates.
  • Aadhaar Card: Aadhaar card is mandatory to apply for NEET 2018 examination.


  • Candidates must be citizen of India.
  • NRIs (Non Resident Indians), OCIs (Oversees Citizen of India), PIOs (Persons of Indian Origin) & Foreign Nationals can also apply.

      Age Criteria:

  • Lower Age Limit: Candidates should complete 17 years at the time of admission or will completed on or before 31st December 2018.
  • Upper Age Limit: Candidates upper age limit should be 25 years as on date of examination.
  • Relaxation: There is 5 years relaxation for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category.

Qualification Criteria

Qualifying Exam: Candidates must have passed the higher/senior secondary examination orISCE which is
equivalent to 10+2 examination after a period of 12 years study.

Subjects: Candidates must passed the above qualifying examination with Physics, Chemistry,
Biology/Biotechnology & Mathematics or any other elective subjects with English.

Minimum Marks: Candidates must secure minimum 50% marks (GEN), 40% marks (SC/ST/OBC),
45% marks (GEN PH) & 40% marks (SC/ST/OBC-PH) taken together in PCB subjects.

Appearing Candidates: Candidates who are in the 12th standard can also apply. They must have to show
the passing certificates complying with the percentage criteria at the time of first round of counselling.

Note: Marks obtained in math will not be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.

 NEET 2018 Exam Pattern 

       The exam pattern for NEET 2018 examination is mentioned below:

  • No. of Question: Total 180 questions will be asked in the exam.
  • Exam Mode: Exam will be conducted through offline mode (pen and paper based mode).
  • Type of Question: There will be objective type questions (four options with one correct answer).
  • Subjects: Questions will be asked from Physics, Chemistry & Biology (Zoology & Botany) subjects.
  • Exam Duration: The exam duration will be 3 hours.
  • Language: Question paper will be asked in 8 languages like English, Hindi, Tamil, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi and Telugu languages.
  • Marking Scheme: Four marks will be given for each correct answer (+4 Marks).
  • Negative Marking: One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer (-1 Mark).

 NEET Syllabus
The syllabus will be based on a common syllabus prescribed by the MCI (Medical Council of India). The syllabus will have topics from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology subjects. It will be prescribed after the review of various state syllabus as well as CBSE, NCERT & COBSE. The syllabus will be based on the 11th & 12th class standard. 
NEET Counselling 2018

Students will be able to participate in the counselling process according to their rank. Counselling for 15% All India Quota will be organized by MCC of Directorate General of Health Service (DGHS) through online mode. Counselling for other than 15% All India Quota will be managed by the respective authorities.

During the counselling process, candidates have to pay the counselling fee and choose their preference for colleges. Seats will be allotted to candidates on the basis of filled choices, rank and availability of seats in colleges. After seat allotment, candidates will be needed to appear at the allotted college to complete admission formalities.
