          CTET Exam Pattern 2017 – Complete Decription
  • The exam pattern provides the candidates an overview of the structure of the final examination. It is quite compulsory and important for the candidate to know and understand the design so as to prepare accordingly. The candidates are advised to go through the CTET Exam Pattern 2017 explained here.
  • Mode of exam: The Exam will be conducted in the offline mode. The candidates are required to use black or blue ball point pen only. Candidate should remember that borrowing in the examination hall is strictly prohibited.
  • Time duration: The candidate will have to complete their paper within two and half hour time duration as per CTET Exam Pattern 2017. No extra time will be given to the candidates in any situation. The candidates should reach the examination centre accordingly to the reporting time.
  • Marking scheme: There is no negative marking in the exam paper i.e. for any wrong answer no marks will be deducted. But the candidates are advised not to attempt question haphazardly.
  • Type of Exam: The exam is of objective type. The candidate has to fill the circles in the OMR sheet. For one question, four options will be provided and the candidates will have to select only one correct option. The candidates must remember that the circles must have to be filled completely. Partially filled circles will not get any marks as per CTET Exam Pattern 2017.
          Language of the Papers
  • The Question Paper of CTET 2017 Exam will be bilingual i.e Hindi or English
  • Main question paper shall be Bilingual (Hindi/English).
           CTET Exam Pattern 2017 – Structure and Content of Paper-I
  • This paper is for the candidates who intends to be a teacher for Class I to V (Primary Stage). All questions in this paper will be of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). There will be no negative marking. The Structure and Content are given below:

           Nature and standards of questions in Paper-I
  • The test items on Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years.
  • The Test items in Language I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction.
  • The Test items in Language II will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities
  • Language II will be a language other than Language I.
  • The Test items in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects.
          Standard of Questions
  • The questions in the test for Paper I will be based on the topics prescribed in syllabus of the NCERT for classes I – V but their difficulty standard as well as linkages, could be up to the Secondary stage
          CTET Exam Pattern 2017 – Structure and Content of Paper-II
  • This paper is for the candidates who intends to teach at the elementary stage i.e Classes VI to VIII. There will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in this paper and there is no negative marking for any wrong answer.

         Nature and Standard of questions in Paper -II of CTET
  • The test items on Child Development and Pedagogy at this stage will focus on educational psychology of teaching and learning, relevant to the age group of 11-14 years.
  • The Test items in Language I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction.
  • The Test items in Language II will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities
  • Language II will be a language other than Language I.
  • The Test items in Mathematics and Science, and Social Studies/Social Science will focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of the subjects.
        Standard of Questions in Paper-II
  • The standard of questions in Paper-II of CTET exam will be based on the topics prescibed in the syllabus of NCERT for Classes VI-VIII. However, the difficulty standard as well as linkages could be upto the Senior Secondary Level.
          Paper-I and II : Aspirants who intends to be teacher for both the levels (Primary and Elementary level) will have to appear
          in both the papers -I and II.
          Qualifying marks in CTET 2017 exam
  • Candidates will have to score 60 % and above marks to be considered as TET qualified.
          Weightage of CTET Score
  • School managements (Government, local bodies, government aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to the person belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently abled persons, etc., in accordance with their extant reservation policy.
  • Should give weight age to the CTET scores in the recruitment process, however, qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment.
